Should I do a Video Podcast?
In this week's episode, I'm talking about Video podcasts!
I'm not here to tell you should/shouldn't be doing a video podcast!
It's a personal decision as to which you prefer but I'd like to talk about them and look at some benefits that could come out of using video for your podcast.
YouTube as a search engine - a popular choice
Increase your SEO and reach if you put it on as many platforms as possible.
Spotify - can upload videos to this platform now. Will play the video only on Spotify and send the audio to the other platforms.
One of my clients does this. Shout out to Hannah & Nicole from Showing Up Solo. Some of you may remember them coming on the show to offer insights into what it's like to set up a podcast.
If you're a solopreneur looking for help with your marketing then I strongly recommend you check them out.
You can get some great video clips to use to promote your podcast. These work well, like audiograms.
You can even turn the clips into reels which get really good reach on Instagram.
Your audience gets to put a face to the name!
Video doesn't work so well if you're not great on camera. If it makes you feel uncomfortable and less likely to show up then don't put that added pressure on yourself.
I prefer to record just the audio for my podcast. I can show up on video but it's something I struggle with and could become a barrier for me.
You need to make your podcast work for you, if that's video great, and if it's audio, that's great too!

Unknown:and advice they discovered along the way. Let's get started.
Unknown:Hi, and welcome to this week's episode. So today I'm answering
Unknown:the question, Should I do a video podcast. Now, I'm not here
Unknown:to tell you that you should or shouldn't be doing a video
Unknown:podcast. It's completely a personal decision as to which
Unknown:you prefer and whether you want to do them. But I'd like to talk
Unknown:about them and look at some of the benefits that could come out
Unknown:of using a video for your podcast. So one, you can upload
Unknown:your videos to YouTube. A lot of people use YouTube as a search
Unknown:engine, it's a really popular choice. I know my kids use
Unknown:YouTube as a search engine. And I think it's top three, one of
Unknown:the top three search engines. So this can be really great to
Unknown:increase your reach, it will increase your SEO because you're
Unknown:on as many platforms as possible. Spotify, they have a
Unknown:feature. Now if you use anchor to upload your publish your
Unknown:podcast, you can upload your videos to this platform, the
Unknown:video will only pay on Spotify, but it will sit and it'll send
Unknown:the audio to the other places that you've connected your
Unknown:anchor account to. But this is, you know, a new thing that
Unknown:they're trying. So that could benefit for you there that you
Unknown:can upload it directly onto Spotify don't have to do in a
Unknown:different format. One of my clients is this shout out to
Unknown:Hannah and Nicole from showing up solo. And some of you may
Unknown:remember that they came on the show, to offer their insights
Unknown:into what it's like to set up a podcast and run it. And I'll put
Unknown:a link to the episode in the shownotes for you. Also, if you
Unknown:are a solopreneur and you're looking for help with your
Unknown:marketing that I really strongly recommend that you check them
Unknown:out. They are amazing ladies and they really know their stuff. So
Unknown:I'll pop a link in the show notes to their website as well
Unknown:so you can have a little look about what they do and how they
Unknown:can help you. Another benefit to using video for your podcast is
Unknown:that you can get some great video clips to promote your
Unknown:podcast. These work well like audiograms you can even turn the
Unknown:video clips into reels which have a really good reach on
Unknown:Instagram. Plus your audience does get to put a face to the
Unknown:name. I mean, video doesn't work so well. If you're not great on
Unknown:camera, if it feels you if it makes you feel uncomfortable,
Unknown:and then less likely to show up, then don't put that added
Unknown:pressure on yourself. I prefer to record just the audio for my
Unknown:podcast. I can I can show up on video. But it is something that
Unknown:I do struggle with a bit and could become a bit of a barrier
Unknown:for me. And it's all about making your podcasts work for
Unknown:you. If it works for you with video, that's great. But if you
Unknown:prefer just to stick to the quote unquote traditional method
Unknown:of podcasting, it's just audio then that is great, too. I would
Unknown:love to get your thoughts on video podcasting. Are you think
Unknown:about starting a video podcast? Are you doing a video podcast? I
Unknown:would love to hear from you. All my details will be in the show
